New Christian marriage book released

Marriage PATHAt first, I couldn’t decide whether to post this announcement on Valentine’s Day or Friday the 13th.  But I decided to avoid distracting people with social media on the day they’re planning to spend time with their sweetie…

I’m delighted to announce the publication of my most recent book, Marriage PATH: Peacemaking at Home for Christian Couples (you can find it on Amazon here).

“PATH” is not only a metaphor for the journey of marriage, but an acronym for “peacemaking at home.”  Followers of Jesus don’t just wish for peace, they make it — and that includes in the relationships closest to us.  Marriage PATH sets out a biblical vision of God’s peace in marriage; drawing on Jesus’ teaching in the Beatitudes (Matt 5:3-12), the chapters explore how the virtues of hope, hunger, humility, and compassion apply to the day-to-day relationship between a husband and wife.

My hope is to ground all of our churchly conversations about marriage in the larger conversation about discipleship, without losing touch with the actual struggles of couples.  Questions are included at the end of each chapter to encourage individual reflection, couple conversation, or small group study and discussion.  A Kindle version of the book is in the works.

Frankly, this is a bit of an experiment: I have bypassed the usual publication channels to release the book through the institute I direct at the seminary — the Fuller Institute for Relationship Education (or more affectionately, “FIRE”).  One of the overall goals of FIRE is to create relationship resources that will be of direct benefit to families and congregations.  We have hundreds of Fuller Seminary grads who are serving as marital therapists and ministers around the country, and indeed, the world — and my intent is to draw upon their passion and expertise to create free or affordable online and print materials that will strengthen family relationships.   This book is the first in what I hope will be a long line of resources.

Thus, I have a favor to ask of all of you: if you read Marriage PATH and find it helpful, you can aid the mission of FIRE by either (a) telling your friends about the book through Facebook or other social media, or (b) posting an encouraging review on Amazon.

Thanks for your support!  Peace be with you and with your marriage.

  1. Cameron, I was happy to see this release. I’m very supportive. What is the best way for you and the Institute for us to purchase the book?

I’m guessing that you’ve taught some sermons on the topics from the book. Is that true? If so, can you share the links?
